Hi All,
Read Robs blog with some puzzlement about why the Supporters Club is now a company. Surely if it is a supporters club then the supporters should run the club and say how it is run, mind you we all know who would run it!

The same as everything else, Neil Morris has to be in total control or he doesn't allow it to happen!

I heard rumblings of this on Sunday & can say Im not suprised how this has turned out.
A controlled Supporters Club - NO THANKYOU!
Just another way for NM to cream money out of dedicated supporters under the guise of ''Well if YOU want to keep Hockey in Manchester''.............................................#yawn#
At least some people there had the balls to stand upto him, rather than just a load of nodding dogs...

The same as everything else, Neil Morris has to be in total control or he doesn't allow it to happen! Hi All, As I have said in the "Like/Hate" thread, the club trying to control everything. I think the idea of taking the supporters club out of the control of the supporters will kill it off. I don't think that I will renew my membership as the only reason that I took it out was for the away travel to MKL, which will only be a very rare occasion for me as I would only use it if I were travelling on my own. I could see an independent supporters club being formed, even to the point of organising away travel, just no players. Pete

You have it wrong but I won't argue with you all. Neil will NOT be able to take any money out of the SC without our say so. He just wanted to make it all legal. He wants no say in how it's run and doesn't intend to even come to meetings other than the first and last of each year. We can't take any grouses or troubles to him, we are totally in control. If any money goes missing, his guarantee means that he will replace it (not that any will). Why not just see how it goes before shutting the door on it?

Mags, as you use the term 'we' do we gather the picked committee is:
You, Tambo, Norma, Julie, Becky.
You can still have a fan elected committee if all hes worried about is 'money going missing' as when the annual accounts are done - anyone responsible for money going awol is prosecuted. Simples. Its just then it might be people doing it that he doesnt like..................
Goodluck & we will see how it goes then....

It isn't people he doesn't like, it's people who have been associated with the club since it's inception and therefore, people he trusts not to bring the club into disrepute. There's nothing to stop anybody from stepping up and helping out. We always need volunteers.

Hi All,
While I accept that Neil Morris may want to have the same people all of the time involved in the club. It does have an air of a "Phoenix Mafia" which does tend to put some people off from volunteering. My perception is that you have to support the club in a way laid down by certain people who do not accept that others enjoy watching and going to hockey games in their own way.

I take it that your invitation is to join the appointed board of the Supporters Club. I think that it would be a good move as it may allay any fears of members that the board is just a puppet of Neil Morris as I do not think that anyone who knows me would have the perception that I would be anything but independant of the other appointed board members and only act in the best interests of the members of the club. Just not Treasurer, cos I'm crap with money. Pete

The board is complete as is it, for the moment but, we always need and would be very thankful for any help anyone would care to offer. I value your opinion Pete and would be grateful for your help as a volunteer. If you are happy with that please see any of us at the rink tomorrow. Mags

Hi Mags,
As trust is a two way street I will hold off volunteering until I am sure that there is a sound board in place that doesn't shout "how high" when told to jump. I still think that the supporters club board will try to control the supporters into their way of enjoying hockey.
