With the team currently shipping between 3-5 goals most games, the defence have taken a bit of a battering recently.
However, the lack of back-checking by certain forwards is diabolical. For instance, Edney scored a couple the other night, but was on the ice for all 3 Scims goals. Yet this seems to be overlooked.
Don't get me wrong. It isn't just him. After all, he's on the same line as the coach....

I don't know for sure as I can't attend the games, but I think I saw from the youtube highlights of the Scims game, TH was playing with Walker and Wallace. Could easily be wrong tho. Anyway, TH is an offensive player. His natural instinct is to attack. This has always been his coaching style and it's nothing new to the phoenix this year to score a few and concede a few. I just don't think he sees the defensive side of the game, or at least puts less importance on it. If you want a tight defensive unit, TH is not your man.

Wallace was put on the top line while Edney sat out a 10 min misconduct.

Hi All,
I think it goes further than the defence underperforming. From the start of the season Tony Hands philosophy has been "we're going to score one more than you" which was OK at the start of the season as we were an unknown force in this league, but as the season has progressed the other teams have seen where our weaknesses are. I believe that the main problem is that Tony Hand being player/coach isn't working and as I said before the start of the season he should be more of a coach and if he wants to play then he should take only the occasional shift. He had no real knowledge of this league and has been a sharp learning curve for him and when he has shifts of 6-8 minutes as he has done in recent games he is not performing his role as a coach to the benefit of the club. I will be the first to say that he is still an excellent player, but he has to decide between player or coach.

Hi All,
I believe that we used "the trap" in Guildford and it worked well, if that's what it takes for us to win games against the top teams in the league then so be it, it's not pretty hockey but points is points.
Pleased that we have big Ry back in the lineup, played well on Sunday even pushed forward to try for a goal.
