The Club probably couldn't operate without the volunteers, but how many of them actually ever pay to attend the games? How many of them have paid for season tickets? Just an interested enquiry!!

Hi All,
Certainly a good and valid question. I personally have no problem if the volunteers get a free season ticket for their efforts. I would only hope that the motivation is for the benefit of the club not for free entry. I have, on the most part, found the stewards to be the best event stewards I have come across and only have praise for them, having said that I have come across a couple of incidents of "jobsworthyness" and have heard of a couple more incidents (althought this is hearsay). One thing that does annoy me about the stewards and I have seen this happen on a couple of occasions by stewards who I couldn't identify because they were too far away is during warmup, when a puck comes over the plexi a youngster has gone to pick it up but the steward has got to it first and put it in their pocket, knowing that the kid was after it, but to balance this out there are stewards who will shout to the players to get the kids nearby a puck, I like that.

As far as I am aware, all the stewards and other match night volunteers (50/50, etc) pay to attend the games. I know that when I volunteered (back in the 03-04 season) I was expected to pay for my game tickets.
I'm not 1005 but I think they gat some form of discount due to not being able to watch the games in there entirity.
I believe that Mags can confirm this is the case (or not as it may be).

Theres a steward at the door end who ALWAYS beats kids to the pucks coming over - which I think is awful, the kids look soooo disappointed!

Robb, you're correct. The volunteers are all paid season ticket holders.
