Hi All,
I thought about posting last night about the game, but the way I was feeling I thought better of it, but this morning I still have a nasty taste in my mouth about it.
First the fun side of my post.
Excuses for the loss The players were tired after the extended warm up. The ice wasn't resurfaced after the warm up. Phoenix scored first. The players were saving themselves for Saturday. We felt intimidated by the crowd. The Milton Keynes lot were too loose after their extended time in the coach on the journey up. The referee wasn't on our side. We are lulling MKL into a false sence of security for the away leg.
Now for the seriou side...
We played an abysmal game last night, THE PLAYERS AREN'T PLAYING FOR THE COACH, whatever system Tony Hand is playing it isn't working. I wonder how many will actually blame some of it on the referee, I couldn't believe it when the Simpsons power play video started to play when Hagelbergs holding penalty occured, what I thought should have happened is that the MKL player should have also got a penalty. Didn't see the one where he got thrown out of the game so I cannot comment on it, due to sight line. In my opinion Hagleberg should still have got the Man of the Match as for the time he played he was still the best player for the 60 minutes. Courtenay has lost interest, that's all I can say about him. Fone was left out to dry last night, although he let in some howlers, the one that hit him on his right shoulder then rolled in off him, what was he doing, he should have been up against the post to stop that happening. Several of the MKL goals were where their players were just allowed to skate around and take pot shots, the Phoenix players were just watching as spectators. Nick Poole had the time to make a phone call, have a cup of tea, go to the loo, pick his nose then score. Milton Keynes ran rings around the Phoenix last night, the best team won and out classed them in every aspect. Phoenix last night didn't have any idea on what to do and guess what it's down to the coach. In a different thread I asked JCB to answer a question, he didn't answer it but that is his choice, so I will answer it. I asked "when should the "slack" for Tony Hand stop" this was in the eyes of Neil Morris. As a buisnessman with a view what is correct for the team, taking the team forward which requires an amount of success, this success is measured by what the team wins and as success has a habit of increasing the fan base which makes the team more viable, I would say with Tony Hand at the end of the season, no Silverware = no job. It would be time for a change.

pete has stolen much of my thunder about what we talked about on the way home last night
i have never seen such an inept dismal display since i started watching hockey
it would seen to me that the team have given up playing for the coach. they are not intrested and are waiting for the end of the season
it pains me to say this but neil has a big decesion to make at the end of the season re tony hand. he either plays or he coaches he cannot do both

Yes what on earth was that about last night, it was one of the worse performances I have ever seen, they were well and truly laughing at us. We made them look better than they are. Everything about last night was wrong. Dont know whether any else noticed the moving score board at the end, if you want people in the games then at least get that right - face off time for last night was being advertised as 5.30pm. I tell you what if I was a new person and used that as the guide and got there for 5.30pm (or earlier to take in the prematch atmosphere ) then I would not have been happy! Right hand does not know what the left hand is doing - and at the moment neither does the Tony Hand

Sounds very grim from the reports.
Its never good when you can't make the game..... actually, in this case it was i suppose. Hmm, ballsed up my argument there. *scratches chin*
Did i even have an argument? Who knows.
Excellent play on words there Karen! I can't believe i've never heard it before!
lol and rofl
Its a sorry state of affairs if the players no longer want to play for the coach. There's only one thing that can be done to rectify that, and i can't see Neil taking that drastic a step.
Not too confident about the playoffs now, so here's hoping for a more consistent year next year!

Neil has to decide if he wants to be the owner of a successful hockey team with all the tough decisions it takes, or he keeps a 'friend' in a job & we continue as we are.....

We were .. can`t think of any word that fully sums up the performance. As for Jaakko being man of the match i`d have had him 2nd with Greg wood being the only player willing to attack MK, and a couple of times playing on his own as other players seemed to say " i don`t want the puck" Greg seemed to be the only one who was willing to fight all game and justified his MOM in my opinion. The team has NO confidence at all and if were honest you wonder where the next win will come from? Even Romford would have outclassed us last night. Changes should have been made awhile ago getting defense reinforcement in but we went for another forward. as i said on the forum, the programme notes if anyone has read them will bring a laugh out of you in coaches coach. We need to out play MK, out work them , out play them in every department was the long and short of it. And did we? only good thing last night was MK mascot Pucky who stole the show for me.

Hey JCB,
What do you want for your tea tonight?
JCB replies "I had Fish and Chips last night"
Ask yourself, was the questioned answered.
Do you have a second home that you claim expenses for from Parliament?
