What do folk reckon about the chances of Tony lacing up again next year?
I can actually see it happening, fitness pending.
I do feel that this will be Ed's last playing season though.
I think i'd rather like to see Tony as Player Coach, and Ed full time Bench Coach, but i know that's wishful thinking with Ed's circumstances.
This is all part of the reason i (and probably all of us) love hockey so much. It's amazing how different everyone of our seasons has been so far, and its impossible to guess at what will happen next year. Will Tony continue to coach as he is? Or will he hang up the skates to work the bench full-time? Or would he be tempted to draft in a bench coach with plenty EPL experience? Who knows, but i'll sure as hell be buying a season ticket to see how it pans out.

personally alot of people dont like tony for personal reasons (as stated earlier about the way he treats people) and therefore when things go bad, their negative opinion of the man himself gets carried over onto the way he coaches and plays. i am sick of hearing the same old same about him. Ok i might get called a happy clappy or wearing rose tinted glasses but hey what knew about me getting called. but on a serious note some of the things that TH has done cannot be argued with. Look back at some of the excellent players he brought in (tallari, molin, beaurguard (sp?)) just to name a few. Tally up his point scoring and hes wiping the floor with a lot of the younger lads around. Ok the brits didnt get the ice time in the elite league but some did i.e luke boothroyd. i like the young brit lads and talk to a few of them and of course i would love to see them all do well because they train hard but i dont have that power because i am not the coach. At the end of the day you cannot say that he is not doing what HE thinks is best for the club because if that is his main priority. Hey Carla, The only way a coach can be measured is by what the club has won under his leadership and that currently stands at two fairly insignificant cups played between the Phoenix and another club both of which were underachieving at the time. It is true that Tony Hand has brought in some excellent players but that only emphasises his lack of coaching ability because even with these excellent players the team hasn't achieved any real success. Pete Read and digested your war and peace . I bet you are glad that you have got that little lot of your chest .No double standards from me I was as everyone else always says just expressing my opinion. Whilst I do not agree with alot of what you say whether on here or the other one I can accept it.Re cut some slack ...firstly I could not possibly answer for Neil Morris ..he like you, me and everyone else has his opinion. As for me I will back TH all the way. OK call me a happy clapper but as I have said before he has forgotten more than I will ever know about hockey Hey JCB, At last someone who accepts that I have a point of view, if you agree with what I say then - great if you partly agree with what I say then - great if you disagree with what I say then - great If I disagree with what someone says I will always put forward a reasoned arguement with my post, I will not just dismiss it with "rubbish" or suchlike. I always accept that other people may have a differing view to mine. Pete

8-2 semi final home leg. He's is just f*cking awesome isnt he? No one is saying he is awesome. I was just saying that what he does is what he thinks is best, we dont know what it is that is said in the dressing room and what the game plan is. How do you know that the players were sticking to what he said. Anyway yeah the result was disappointing putting it lightly but some of the players were not putting the effort in and credit to those that even when we were so far behind, they still chased the puck and tried to bring it back i.e greg wood (well deserved mom). You could see the disappointment and frustration on TH face by the end and that shows to me his belief in the club. I did think last night that him and ed dominated the ice time which should have been changed. Also when we were on powerplays, they made up two of our men which is a bit of a no brainer as they cannot track back to cover the defense quick enough. RE silverware - we have just come into a new league with a team that has never played together and we are challenging at the top end of the table and are in the semi final of the cup. Yes you might think it is underachieving but winning takes time. I think in the first half of the season we had the unknown on our side but teams have started to work out our team now and we need to adapt. yes TH has brought in the excellent players and yes we still havent achieved anything but when have we ever retained them players to build a winning side?

Last night seems to have reinforced the opinion that he cannot juggle playing and coaching at the same time. (apparently he didn't have such a bad game playing-wise, or at least compared to most of our roster).
Its hard to say whether he is/will be a good full time coach, as i am yet to witness how that would pan out.

I think in the first half of the season we had the unknown on our side but teams have started to work out our team now and we need to adapt. That's probably true but who's job is it to work out how the team should adapt and not only work it out but be able to teach the players to do it that way. Tony's a brilliant player, he knows his hockey inside out, he's got the hockey brain, he can read the game but being able to translate that to the rest of the team is his weak link. He's not a people person and appears to be surly and sulky. I might be wrong about him but that's the impression I always get.
