It can be a strange experience watching your own supporters get irate about what they consider a "bad call" when you know that they have called it right. This happens to me at most home games...... Hey Monkey, We have a young lady who is somewhere near to us ( is that a fair location Gord? ) that really needs to learn some of the rules, especially what is a good check and what is not, also the rule on holding, it is as though when a Phoenix player checks or holds someone that is OK but when an opposition player does the same she goes off her head. She also gets very upset when it is pointed out that she is wrong in her judgement. Pete Still with a big smile on my face

I think I may just know who you mean ;D
There's a great book by the name of "A Game Three Halves" by Liam Sluyter (the same guy that wrote "Seasons to be Cheerful" - an account of how the Manchester Storm were formed - both highly recommended) that features a chapter from the Ref's point of view (Simon Kirkham IIRC without grabbing it off the bookshelf). A very interesting view that should be made compulsive reading for anyone before they start criticising Referees (IMHO, obviously).

Hi All,
I have quite often thought that it would be a good idea to run a hockey school, not for players but for fans, it could be junior players showing drills to the public about the finer pionts of the rules, even if it was during the period breaks over the course of a season.
Pete
PS We could invite some of the referees along ;D

Can we have a rumours thread for next season please? I would have started one but I've not got any rumours to put in it yet ... none that I can tell anyone about

Liam wrote a piece about something that happened to me during the Mets era,for his first book, but it didnt make the final draft

Hi All,
Setting off to Coventry in about an hour or so, just getting my bag ready (no, not my missus, it's a good job she doesn't read this!) Going with Stuart and Pauline and staying in the Ramada which is about 100 yards from the rink. Hopefully having a nice meal and a drink tonight. Looking forward to the weekend, it would be nice to win but I am just happy for us to be there. Good luck to all of the teams this weekend, play safe and enjoy yourselves. I hope that the fans of the teams who haven't made it to the finals this year have as much fun as we used to have in Nottingham.
Pete
